Description
Trigger Points online Course – Jones Technique and Digital Pressure Treatment
Myofascial Trigger Points are contractile nodules in the muscle. Those points are painful when palpated and can radiate pain to distant places in the body. Those sustained contractions not only cause pain but also reduce the range of motion and strength. Trigger Points are extremely common. Its treatment is very simple, solving many different pain problems easily.
What are Trigger Points?
They can be defined as hyperirritable points on a tight band of a skeletal muscle. Trigger Points are palpable nodules that mimic various types of pain. The most classical examples are migraine headaches and sciatica pain. For that reason, Trigger Points may trick even experienced clinicians. A great part of pain misdiagnosis happens when Trigger Points are ignored.
President Kennedy’s doctor, Dr. Janet Travell, was responsible for the discovery of Trigger Points. Dr. Travell has mapped the most common Trigger Points referred pain patterns.

Jones Technique
There are many ways to treat a Trigger Point. Examples are the Dry Needling (utilizing acupuncture needles) and Laser Therapy, taught in another course in WiFi Mentor. A very common form of treatment is Digital Pressure.
Digital Pressure is taught in the present course because of its simplicity and efficiency. On the other hand, it is painful to the patient and sometimes extenuating for the therapist. That’s why we added another technique to deal with Trigger Points in this course. Jones technique, or tension-counter-tension, is a smooth and elegant alternative to Digital Pressure.
